About Us

Since 1963, Holland Sports Club has proudly served Barton under Needwood village as a volunteer-run, non-profit, community sports club.

Originally Barton Cricket Club (1860) and Barton Tennis Club (1920), HSC now spans a fifteen-acre site, accommodating various sports including football, cricket, rugby, tennis, and tug-of-war. Six affiliated clubs operate independently under Holland Sports, with notable achievements in rugby, football, and tug-of-war, including national championships and international representation.

Our mission is to provide top-tier sports facilities, enabling our affiliated clubs at all levels to thrive. Beyond sports, Holland Sports fosters community engagement through hosting regular village events, and welcomes
non-members for both sports and social.

Governance

In October 2016, Holland Sports Club Limited assumed the club's operations. Governed by a board of unpaid directors elected annually at the Club’s AGM, the structure includes: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. Additionally, an advisory Management Committee comprises Directors, representatives from affiliated clubs, social members, Parish Council members, and sub-committee chairs. Operational responsibilities are decentralised to sub-committees including House, Grounds, and Development Committees, each reporting to the Management Committee.
These committees oversee maintenance, pitch management and facility improvement projects respectively.

Holland Sports prioritises top-tier management practices and inclusivity, offering sports opportunities to all. Our commitment is reflected in various policies covering Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Data Protection, and Conflicts of Interest.

Through formal affiliation, Holland Sports ensures all sporting clubs share our ethos and adhere to these policies.
